In response to the COVID 19 outbreak and instruction from Washington State Governor Jay Inslee, Washington Recovery Services opened the Fourth Plain Pit Stop, a hygienic toileting and washing station for travelers and people who are homeless.
The Fourth Plain Pit Stop operated from April 2020 through May of 2020 when Clark County was in Phase I. If Clark County returns to Phase I, the Pit Stop may reopen.
Located across Fourth Plain Blvd from Waterworks Park at River City Church, the Pit Stop trained volunteers and provided services to between 10 and 30 people a day.
There are several public toilets operating in Vancouver, but none are sufficiently serviced – cleaned – to stop the transmission of COVID 19. Public toilets need to be cleaned after each use to stop virus transmission.
Volunteers at the Fourth Plain Pit Stop were equipped and trained to clean after each toileting to stop transmission of the virus. A hand-washing station was also available. Need more information? See our FAQ.
